ONE WORLD Chorus travels to Kingston, Jamaica
“One Love, One Song. One Voice.”- ONE WORLD CHORUS.
Imagine an outlet where children from all over the globe are connected and brought together to make the world a more united and compassionate place. That outlet is ONE WORLD CHORUS, a non-profit organization that strives to demonstrate, document and promote harmony through choral singing.
Co-founder and Artistic Director Aaron Nigel Smith spearheads the ONE WORLD CHORUS Project based out of Portland, Oregon. Aaron travels to different locations around the world to work with children and engage them with unique choral singing and music enrichment workshops in schools. The recordings of the songs are then mixed and produced into CDs that are sold and all of the funds from the CD’s are given back to schools to support music education.
Aaron’s choral work has already proved that children are enthusiastic and eager to learn more about music because it gives them the creative ability to participate and cooperate with one another, building a sense of community.
Aaron recently partnered with 1Love and Tuff Gong International and traveled to Jamaica to record and perform Bob Marley songs, “Coming in from the Cold” and “One Love” with children from Haile Salassie High school, Stepney Primary and Junior High School and Aabuthnott Gallimore High School. Watch the video below to learn more about the story of ONE WORLD CHORUS and Aaron’s journey to Jamaica.
Aaron is hoping to take ONE WORLD CHORUS around the globe, looking to travel to Israel, Palestine, Columbia and Kenya in the near future.
Aaron and his ONE WORLD Chorus are just one of the many inspirational stories we want to share with you. Here at 1love, we support music and the power it has to change lives, especially our YOUTH. Children are the future and together we can create a united global movement.
